Healthy Swaps For Your Favorite Foods

The below are a few of my favorite health foods that I love and use regularly! You can also find a lot of these ingredients in my healthy recipe ebooks as well.

One thing that I’m trying to prioritize is finding cleaner alternatives for things that I use daily including plant-based milks. Many contain guar gums and other unnecessary fillers so finding an alternative was at the top of my list! JOI Concentrate is completely clean, containing only the nut itself! It comes in a consistency like runny almond butter and when blended with water makes a frothy milk substitute. It also works great when heated up to make your favorite latte or cappuccino! It gets super foamy and works better than carton plant-based milks, plus it’s better for you too.

Sugar is another thing to be conscious of in your diet. There are a lot of sugar substitutes out there including stevia, monk fruit, and other processed replacements. If you’re sensitive to these highly processed sugars, xylitol might be the solution for you. Xylitol is traditionally made from the bark of a birch tree and now more commonly from corn cobs. It’s a great alternative with the side effects that some of them can cause, plus it tastes like real sugar and doesn’t have any of the odd aftertaste!

If you’re trying to reduce your caffeine intake or limit coffee, I have some great suggestions! It’s really difficult to find a replacement that mimics coffee or taste similar. The Teeccino coffee alternative made from dandelion roots provides that coffee-like bitterness and it’s organic! Additionally, dandelion root has a whole list of benefits that you can read more about here. I highly recommend this one! If you’re a fan of coffee and chai tea, MEDIDATE coffee alternative is made from roasted date seeds and cardamom. It really is a nice combo of the two!
